A young girl was given her own Bible on the occasion of her baptism. Her mother wrote these words on the flyleaf: “… we give you this Book, your one sure guide in an unsure world. Read it, study it, love it, live it. In it you will find a verse for every occasion.” More than 6o years later, the grown girl agrees, saying, “It is more than great literature: it pulsates with LIFE!”
Anne Graham Lotz received that Bible from her parents Ruth and Billy Graham. From Jesus in Me. Lotz, Anne Graham, 2020.
Charles Spurgeon, a 19th century pastor in London, wrote this of the Bible: ” The Book has wrestled with me; the Book has smitten me; the Book has comforted me; the Book has smiled on me; the Book has frowned on me; the Book has clasped my hand; the Book has warmed my heart. The Book weeps with me, and sings with me; it whispers to me, and it preaches to me; it maps my way and holds up my goings … and is still my Morning and Evening Chaplain.”
